Unexpected Blessings

Hi sis!

Do you have a moment to sit and have a drink with me?

The other day, I was cruising down the highway, listening to my favorite playlist, bopping along in my minivan –  when the two lanes widened to three. In the next  second, all of the cars in front of me, parted, leaving me a lane all to myself for miles. That’s when it hit me. God shows up and makes a way for us…JUST. THAT. FAST (Snap) Think Moses and the water parting…just. like. that. Allowing the Israelite’s to escape Egypt. A miracle occurred right in front of them…A sign of just how powerful and present He is. A miracle that provided a way out of bondage.

A few days ago, I sat preparing for career changes and preparing our family budget. What stared back at me was a lack of funds and big family changes. I stared at our checkbook wondering how on earth we were going to buy groceries for the week. Sent a fretful prayer for provisions and put everything away.

Then, a few days later, I was frantically raiding my pantry and freezer for ingredients to prepare a meal for a friend who had stopped by (You know, trying to act like I had my act together). As I was cooking, talking and juggling, my neighbor knocked on our door. In her hands was a box FULL of fresh produce. A sudden answer to my silent prayer days earlier.

The next day, in my quiet time reading I found this verse in John 6:27.

*The same scripture three translations*

“Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval” (John 6:27 NIV)

Why would you strive for food that is perishable and not be passionate to seek the food of eternal life, which never spoils? I, the Son of Man, am ready to give you what matters most, for God the Father has destined me for this purpose.” (John 6:27 TPT)

“Don’t waste your energy striving for perishable food like that. Work for the food that sticks with you, food that nourishes your lasting life, food the Son of Man provides. He and what he does are guaranteed by God the Father to last.” (John 6:27 MSG)

And I heard God ask me, “What are you working for Court?”

What am I working for? Am I working for more stuff? Stuff I am going to throw away next month, year or season? Or, am I working towards kingdom building? I know the one I want to work towards, but am I actually?

Bills, pandemics, media, fussy coworkers, kids and partners provoke us to all kinds of emotions. Each one clutters our minds and take our focus off of where we should be looking. Taking every thought captive and surrendering it to Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5) challenges us to reveal what we are truly working for in the moment. I am just as guilty as you when it comes to our daily focus.

I find the more I seek God in moments of struggle, the faster the seas part. Peace and resolution follow. Refining my heart, yet again. It’s a joy to say, Hineni – here I am! Revealing our humble heart as we lay our burdens down in exchange for freedom and delightful moments of bliss and love.

Have my bills gone away…nope, neither have my children, spouse, fussy coworkers or home. But I did receive peace of mind with His revelation. It is up to me to believe that God will show up.  I am responsible for my worries that have been expensive time wasters. Taking away my joy in the moment.

No mistake, no rejection, no sneaky lie is ever too much to stop God from moving on your behalf. Come lay your burdens down at the feet of Jesus today sis. Come rest in the shadow of the Almighty and regain your strength (Psalm 91:1-16). Come boldly to him. He is gracious and promises to receive you (Hebrews 4:16)

Those waters that need parting. Are going to supernaturally split open. The way will be made clear so rapidly you will have no doubt as to who orchestrated it.

When we look to him, he works for us.

Focus on the one who is going to part the waters. Keep your eyes, ears and heart on Him as you work: now, watch as all that you have been trying to move, moves all on its own.

Praying for you always,

Court

  1. Can I just say what a comfort to find somebody who truly understands what theyre talking about on the net. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to look at this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely possess the gift.
