3 Scriptures to Meditate on When You’re Overwhelmed

Hi Friend!

Feeling a bit overwhelmed? Hey, I get it! Laundry (hello mismatched socks), bills, dishes, work, kids of all ages, current events and that never ending question, “What’s for dinner?” are always there. It is time for you to get your hope for today.

Come with me and take a quick time out! Grab your drink and sit down, it is time to take a deep breath. Come on, relax with me for a while. God’s got it.

It has become apparent, at some point in life, we face circumstances that leave us feeling defeated. This sense of defeat can lead to getting caught up in our emotions. Feelings that lead to thoughts that are less than publicly acceptable. This is when you start to believe the lie that you were designed to struggle, and that niggling feeling of loss sets into your heart. Making us grumpy, snippy and a little less than grace filled.

Fact Check Your Emotions

I have good news friend…If you were to fact check this emotion: the lie of being crushed and over burdened. You will watch the story that we are created hopeless, poor and lacking begin to unravel…you will find the truth. In this case, it is found in Jeremiah 29:11.

It is here that God reassures you that He knows the plans for you, and they are plans to prosper you, not harm you. These plans are to give you hope and a future (Jeremiah 29:11). No matter how overwhelmed you feel at the moment rest assured this too shall pass. You were created to succeed.

Gods Grace is Sufficient

Power struggles throughout the day can leave one feeling less than powerful. The never ending to do list can feel as though it’s running the show, instead of us taking control of life. The truth is, when we are weak and seek God, his grace is enough.

2 Corinthians 12:9 says this, “But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me:

That power struggle is over when the power of Christ has it covered. Just now, in this moment of time out, the power of God, our comforter the Holy Spirit, is present and taking the edge off of your day. You don’t have to do anything…you simply need to allow him in, and let him take over.

Set Boundaries and Find Peace

Mental boundaries are crucial to having peace during stressful times. Allocating out thoughts and actions to what is critical today reserves our energy and allows us to make wise choices in hard times. Philippians 4:8 AMP says this “Finally believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them, and implant them in your heart].

Creating these spiritual boundary walls around your thoughts creates a peaceful environment within. The idea that you must allow every thought equal mind space is a distraction tactic designed to pull you in every direction so you cannot accomplish that which you were created for.

If this sounds impossible, you have only one thing to do. Believe. If you can believe, all things are possible (Mark 9:23). Believe him when he says, cast all your anxiety onto me, because he cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). You have nothing to fear, except fear itself.

I am praying for you today. That peace that surpasses all understand cover you where you are. May your eyes be open to the love of God and be evident to you today. For the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear; I will help you.

Friend, it’s time to end our lovely time together, but I pray you come back for a drink, fellowship, and a breath of fresh air.  Let’s connect again soon. In the meantime, I will be praying for you.

Hugs,

Court

  3. Can I just say what a comfort to find somebody who truly understands what theyre talking about on the net. You certainly understand how to bring a problem to light and make it important. A lot more people really need to look at this and understand this side of the story. I cant believe youre not more popular because you definitely possess the gift.

  4. Thank you for spreading God’s word to all those in need. You are truly an inspiration. Most of us have to be reminded to put our faith in the Lord especially in dark times. I have lived through many of lifes turmoils and have found comfort in several verses. Most of all, “God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference.”
